Here is Anchor (named by my son). I tried not to adopt this one, but he won and we are happy to have him.

Feline Friday- Cats eat Pumpkins?!
I've had cats that ate bread, noodles, corn on the cob even soy bean pods and now-

She couldn't get enough.

Feline Friday 13th
Happy Friday 13th! I'm not superstitious but here is a black cat for good measure!
She keeps coming inside, uninvited. I would let her stay in, but our other two cats hiss at her.
She will just have to be content being a yard cat.

Feline Friday and a Rat!
Our neighbors cats like to hang out in our yard because they get lots of attention!
Here is Peach in the birdbath.
Anchor, still a kitten.
This is Hugo, our newest rat. We are teaching him to ride on our shoulders, like the others.

Recently Spotted on my Sewing Room Table- Glitter Shoes and Kitties
Glitter Shoes and kitties! These are both my daughter's projects from directions she found online (sorry, I don't know where she got them from). The shoes were bronze and she decoupaged glitter on them. They are lined with blue painter's tape to protect them. She sewed the kitties on the machine out fleece. Hopefully, I'll have a project from me soon.

Feline Friday with Snow
In the middle of summer, I thought a picture of cats with snow outside would be cooling. Its not much, but there is actually snow out there.

A Funny thing happened on the way to my sewing room...
I was painting the sewing room cement floor and had just finished, backing my way out of the sewing room when I looked up and realized both cats were still in the room. I thought to myself, "surely they wouldn't jump down on the floor" (usually they jump on furniture to get out of the room- from freezer to sewing table to stairs etc.). You can guess what happened next. First Emma jumps down and starts taking a step, shaking her paw, taking a step shaking her paw. Then she runs into the kitchen and on into the rest of the house leaving forest green foot prints every where. While I clean up after her, Alice jumps down. Then she jumps back up onto the sewing room table after running around it first. I jump onto the sewing room table and try to clean up after her while holding her down so she can't make a bigger mess. Paint rags fall onto the freshly painted floor. In the end, we have 10 feet and a tail covered in forest green paint. As I write this, they are still trying to get back in the sewing room! Unfortunately I don't have pictures.

Feline Friday- Sewing runs in the Family
Two paperweight kitties in their new home! My aunt (who inspired me to start sewing in the first place) sent me this picture of her new cats along side of a puppy made by my grandmother (also inspiring). Actually my mom was the first one to teach me how to sew, on her old black metal Singer (I remember the smell of machine oil and the hesitating hum of the engine before it took off- ahhh I was hooked). Soon I'll be posting a picture of my daughter's school art project- a dress. So yes, sewing does run in the family!

Feline Friday- Make Your Own Style Book!
My 13 year old daughter made me a magazine for my birthday! She wrote 20 pages of articles tailored to me: Spotlight on Curly Hair, DIY Fashion, Accessorizing Like a Pro, Sensitive Skin Savers, Top Beauty Products and more! She even put together looks out of my closet and photographed them. One article has how to make your own look book. I took her advice and put together 24 outfits. Very quickly, I arranged them on my bed and took photos. The point is to remind me of different looks (the pics don't have to be perfect-just recognizable). We all have our favorites and when rushed to get dressed, we tend to grab those so I did not photograph everyday favorite items. I concentrated on pieces I love, but for some reason don't wear that often. After loading the photos on the computer, I went in to edit, selected all the pictures, clicked print, contact sheet. Easy!
Here are a few:
It was a lot of fun. I'm going to do a spring/summer Look Book too.
And of course, Emma wasn't too far away-
Here are a few:
I was working really fast, so this one came out blurry. Also, technical difficulties- blogger really wants these to be sideways, because when I open them, they are right side up!
Just continue to tilt your head to the right...

Feline Friday- A Cat Shelf
I asked my husband to make a shelf so I could ride my exercise bike and be on the computer at the same time. You can guess who quickly moved in! The cats love the sunny window location.
It was a tricky design, because I wanted to be able to remove it to shut the curtains at night.
It simply slides off to remove, but it is very sturdy. It hooks under the window and has a support underneath.
It actually works great for my laptop too!

Feline Friday- Sew your Own
Meet Cat & Mouse, they are great friends and love to sit in unexpected places around your house. Cat makes a fun paperweight and pin cushion; Mouse can be a cat toy. Easy and quick to sew, they make adorable gifts. Cat is 6" tall and weighted so she will sit up straight- great for displaying broaches too! Mouse can have catnip added for a little extra fun.
I created this pattern because I love cats- what more can I say!

Feline Friday- "Kitten" update
I say "kitten" because they are now almost a year old. So big and fluffy!
These stray alley kittens have turned into very friendly and lovable cats.
Cinder and Peach, ready to be petted.
Always love it when I can catch a cat tongue!

Sewing Resolutions and a Cat
Happy Feline Friday!
It is resolution time again. 2012 was my year to improve and learn more about free motion quilting. I had a great time following Sewcalgal's Challenge each month. I also decided I needed to sew what I've got before buying more. It sort of worked. In 2013, I have decided to focus on fabric collage with free motion quilting. I will try to do new work frequently (notice how non-committal I am).
And here's the cat.
Happy New Year!

Peace on Earth
'Twas the first day of winter, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a cat.
The felines were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of tuna danced in their heads.
They had just settled down for a long winter's nap...
Best Wishes for a Peaceful Holiday!

Feline Friday- The Battle Begins
We put up the tree, decorated it and immediately the Light Block Battle begins! The cats love this glass block with lights in it. It warms up and they start hissing. Here is Emma, temporarily Queen of the Block. They woke me up this morning at 5:30am arguing over it.
Alice, looking pleased with herself.

Feline Friday
Because we are so close to Halloween, I had to include a black cat, glaring down at me!
Cloud the rat and Alice. I wonder what they are thinking.
