Easy Table Runner

Using this super easy flip quilt pattern, I sewed this graphic table runner in black and white with pops of hot pink and touches of periwinkle and green.  The runner is longer than the above photo.

Here is a close up of the binding and corners.  This pattern is perfect for non-quilters and

un-perfectionists!  A great way to use up scraps too.

Framed Matisse Fabric

It all started when my cats knocked over a picture frame and broke the glass.

I had this beautiful fabric from Quilting Adventures of Matisse ladies.

I rounded up a few more unused frames.  For the lattice frame with the missing glass, I added some machine stitching and just framed the fabric.  The other 2 frames are those plastic ones, so I basically pieced and sewed a pillow and didn't add the stuffing.  I slid the open end down over the frame.  This way the back is pretty fabric too. 

A Really Neat Fundraiser

A few years ago, my kids' school did a funraiser that involved putting their artwork on a variety of items.  Mugs, pillow cases, boxes etc. were all choices as well as fabric squares.  I ordered the fabric and finally got around to finishing them.  Part of the reason it took me so long is I was waiting for the school to do it again, so I would have more squares to work with!

Well, it became apparent that this was it.  So I asked the kids to pick out fabric from my stash that they would like me to use to frame their art.  I sewed them separately in case they wanted to hang it in their rooms.  I pieced the borders and then sewed, right sides together, around the edges.  No interior stitching so I can actually stuff each one and make them pillows later on, if they want to.

Vest into Wallhanging

A customer of mine loved this vest but didn't want to wear it.  She came up with the idea to make it a wall hanging.  I cut the back off and saved the fabric.  I removed the buttons.  I used the neck band and back fabric to fill in the neck area.  Then I cut off the side bands and added some fabric squares to make it longer and then reattached the bands. 

There was enough of the back fabric to make a rod pocket and binding for the edges.She was thrilled with the results!  (My cat likes it too.)

Gallery of Instrument Cases- Mandolin Case

This is a Mandolin case I made using scraps left over from my raggedy bed quilt. I started by tracing the shape on brown paper and adding a little extra for ease (but not much though).

It fits great. The padding is 1" green foam which was maddening to work with because it has a mind of its own!

It is lined in white satin but at the top I put a denim piece to keep the string ends from snagging on the satin.

Probably should have used white thread in my serger- oh well.

The end result is a cozy case that fits great and really protects the instrument.
